Until recently much of the demand for EML’s services has come from that privileged sector – those with a gold-plated pension scheme.  They are the ones with significant wealth who often toy-with the idea of ‘doing something’ yet, according to a leading wealth planner, in over 80% of cases they eventually decide to ‘do nothing’ and instead leave nearly half their estate to the Government. In doing so they deprive themselves and their family of boundless possibilities.

More recently, there has been interest from a new group – those without the prospect of a gold-plated pension.  For them the ‘dawning reality’ of Living Longer brings a different message – one that is far less welcome.  As retirement comes onto their personal radar they are peeking ahead and seeing a brutal reality – their aspirations and expectations for life after work will not be met as their financial position dictates that they will not be retiring any time soon.

While it is always nicer to have a choice feedback from the pathfinders to this new stage of life offers reason for hope.  Today’s octogenarians tell us that ‘if, at 60, they had known they were going to be alive and well at 85 they would have played a little less golf or bridge and done something more productive’.  They see themselves as the generation of missed opportunities, whose prudent financial restraint will swell the Chancellor’s coffers.

So, if you are one of the many who are now reaching the age when you thought you might be retiring but don’t see how – Don’t Panic!

Central to our coaching programme is the message ‘it’s not about how much you have, it’s about what you do with it’.  Many of those with generous pensions decide to continue working, not because they need to, but because they enjoy making a difference.  During the Transitions coaching programme we focus on ‘everything else’ – money is simply an enabler.  We look at the activities you want to do, the relationships that are important to you and how you can optimise your health to enjoy every moment.

So, if you want to make the most of later life – whatever your financial position – give us a call on:
