Never before have there been so many of us so well connected and so productive for so much longer.

250 years may seem a long time, but compared to the 4.5 billion years it took mankind to develop and grow to a world population of one billion – it’s no time at all.  According to the UN Population experts the human population of the world reached one billion in 1804.  Less that 250 years later by 2050, it is expected to reach 10 billion.

After 1804 it took another 123 years to 1927 to double and since then our global population has grown to 7.5 billion today – and its still growing!

Over the same timeframe the annual GDP per head for each person increased ten fold from $600 pa to $6000 pa.

Add to the mix the arrival of the World Wide Web  in the 1990s.  The internet now connects 90% of the developed world and 50% off the rest.

Oh, and just for good measure, average human life expectancy has increased 50% in just the last 50 years

Clearly we living through a period of dramatic change.

Never before have there been so many of us so well connected and so productive for so much longer.
